Focus: What You Need To Do After Starting A Website

September 27, 2009

It’s very easy to start a website with hopes and dreams just to end like another frustrated webmaster, just like exactly 95% of all webmasters that try to make an online business run like it should. Why do they fail so much?

1 They try to make money with no traffic. This is exactly the same thing like making money in a store with no costumers. No costumers no sales no money. In a website no traffic, no sales no money.

2. They try to make money without little or no content and the little content is duplicated and plagiarized. This never works. Before the traffic, the people must have a very strong reason to visit your website. That reason is content and the design. If you can combine a good website design with top class content, people will stick with you for quite a long time. So it’s already: Content then Traffic, then Sales then Money.

3. Some webmasters try to optimize their sites to get the most clicks just like if they click was the very objective of the site. Users can spot this at range. When I see a website full of Adsense just in the front of my eyes I tend to find another website that is not trying to milk my wallet. But if I find a good site with good content and ads in the right place, not in the front of your eyes, I tend to see what they are selling.

4. Some amateur webmasters try to make a lot of links to their posts and hope to rank higher on Google. This does not work. It’s much better to focus on what you can give then to focus on the secondary activities.

5. And finally some webmasters hope to make a fortune just with third party tools. This will work just to a point, after that there are so many middle men that you cannot expect to make a big profit. If you make money with Adsense you have to pay Google and the Advertiser. However if you make your own product all the money goes just for yourself.
